A partnership with cafés, libraries, faith groups, community centres and businesses that agree to provide toilet access without requiring purchases.

Clean Start (initiative 1)

Providing hygiene kits, toiletries and laundry vouchers to people sleeping rough.

The Clean Start Project

Raise £20,000–£30,000 to pilot in one city.

The funding could support:

• 1,000 hygiene and menstrual hygiene packs;
• toilet access partnerships with local businesses;
• a digital sanitation map;
• volunteer training;
• community engagement with people experiencing homelessness;
• data collection and evaluation.

This gives funders something concrete to back and provides evidence for future expansion.

Supporting women and young people experiencing homelessness with access to safe toilets, showers and menstrual products.

Toilet Watch UK (work with great British public toilet association)

Monitoring public toilet closures and publishing national data.

Raising Funds to Advance Sanitation Justice in the UK

We are raising funds to establish the UK's first Sanitation Justice initiative, working to ensure that everyone regardless of their housing status, income, age or disability has access to safe, clean and dignified sanitation.

Funding will support practical projects that improve access to toilets and hygiene facilities for people experiencing homelessness, while generating the evidence needed to influence public policy and create lasting change. Our work combines research, community partnerships, innovation and advocacy to make sanitation a recognised issue of public health, equality and human dignity.

Imagine a welcoming city-centre space where people experiencing homelessness can:

·        use clean, free toilets;

·        take a shower;

·        wash and dry clothes;

·        access menstrual and continence products;

·        refill water bottles;

·        charge phones;

·        receive information and referrals to support services.

Alongside these services, the hub could function as a research and innovation centre, gathering evidence, testing new approaches and demonstrating the value of sanitation as essential public infrastructure. The insights generated could inform national policy while directly improving lives.

We also provide advice on research, community engagement, funding opportunities and strategies to improve sanitation access for underserved populations.
