Dr Grace Phiri
Founder, Sanitation Justice Network
Dr Grace Phiri is a sanitation researcher, advocate, and founder of Sanitation Justice. Her PhD research explored the decline of public toilet provision in England and its impact on vulnerable communities, bringing national attention to the links between sanitation, health, dignity, and social inclusion.
Grace founded Sanitation Justice to turn research into action. She works with communities, policymakers, charities, and organisations to champion equitable access to sanitation through research, advocacy, education, and practical solutions. Her vision is to ensure that sanitation is recognised as essential public infrastructure and that no one is excluded from accessing safe, clean, and dignified toilet facilities.
She believes that sanitation is more than infrastructure it is a matter of health, dignity, equality, and human rights.
